Occupational Therapy in Sweden
Occupational therapy has been developing in a very positive way during the past 25 years. Now there is about one occupational therapist per 100 000 inhabitants in Sweden. OTs are mainly working in health and medical service within municipal care for the elderly, the disabled, child habilitation and work rehabilitation. About 400 OTs at eight universities pass their exams annually. They have the option to participate in postgraduate studies and through research. To date, about 120 OTs have been awarded their PhD degrees and 10 are full Professors. We see a promising future for our OTs.
